Dental Implants Procedures

Here's an overview of the process carried out to create and fit your new dental implants.

FIRST VISIT

One or more dental implants are inserted into jawbone, which grows and surrounds the implant as the area heals.

SECOND VISIT

The implant or implants are uncovered and an abutment is inserted for each replacement tooth. The abutment is the link between the root and the new tooth. Impressions are taken at this stage for the crown(s).

THIRD VISIT

The crown(s) are fused to the metal abutment(s), leaving you with entirely natural-looking new teeth.

Advantages of Dental Implants

• They look, behave and perform just like natural teeth. No-one will be able to tell you have had implants fitted unless you tell them!
• They are much stronger and more stable than dentures, so you will be able to eat, smile and talk without worrying about slippage, breakages or impediments to speech.
• Because they are inserted directly into your jawbone, implants encourage the growth and strengthening of bone in that area, preventing future problems and preserving your facial structure.

• Dental implants are low maintenance – simply look after them as you would your natural teeth.
• They can last a lifetime, provided you practise good oral hygiene.
• While they may appear expensive, it’s a one-off price which is remarkably affordable when you spread it over the number of years your new implants will last.
• They have an extremely high success rate of 98%. Only a poor or unhealthy lifestyle usually causes implants to fail.
