It can be safe — there are excellent dentists in Turkey — but it carries more risk than EU destinations. Most reported problems come from high-volume budget clinics, over-treatment, and a lack of follow-up. If you go, vetting the specific clinic is everything. For many patients, a vetted EU clinic offers similar prices with less risk.

Turkey markets dental tourism heavily and offers very low prices, often bundled with hotels and transfers. Lower costs are partly genuine (wages and overheads) and partly the result of extremely high patient volumes. That volume is what makes the prices eye-catching — and also what drives some of the risks below.
Some clinics process huge numbers of international patients on tight schedules. That can mean rushed planning, limited one-to-one time with your surgeon, and treatment optimised for throughput rather than your individual case.
When something needs adjusting after you’re home, distance and patchy aftercare can make it hard to resolve. Warranties are only as good as the clinic’s willingness and ability to honour them remotely.
A recurring complaint is patients expecting implants but receiving crowns on filed-down healthy teeth, or far more crowns than needed. Clear, written treatment planning protects you from this.
Here’s the part most marketing won’t tell you: vetted EU clinics in Romania, Poland and Hungary are often within a few hundred pounds of Turkish prices, while offering EU regulation, consumer protection and — when arranged through an advisory — coordinated follow-up. For many patients that’s a better risk-adjusted deal than the cheapest Turkish package.
We’re not anti-Turkey — we’re pro-safety. If a Turkish clinic genuinely fits your case and passes our checks, fine. More often, we find patients get comparable savings with less risk in the EU. Either way, we’ll give you the honest, independent picture.

It can be, at a genuinely accredited clinic with proper planning and warranty. But Turkey carries more risk than EU destinations because of high-volume budget clinics and weaker follow-up, so vet the specific clinic carefully.
Lower wages and overheads, plus very high patient volumes. Some of the saving is real; some reflects throughput-driven clinics where individual care can suffer.
The common issues are rushed planning, receiving crowns instead of implants, over-treatment, and difficulty getting follow-up or warranty work done after you return home.
For most UK patients, vetted EU clinics (Romania, Poland, Hungary) offer a better balance — similar prices to Turkey but with EU regulation and easier aftercare.
Verify accreditation and the surgeon’s credentials, insist on a written implants-not-crowns treatment plan, confirm the implant brand, and get the warranty and aftercare in writing. We can vet a clinic for you.
